Bulgaria
Rising from the Black Sea, Bulgaria is a country at the crossroads of East and West. Bulgaria claims the position of being the oldest established kingdom in Europe, though through the course of time they have been conquered by the Romans, Huns, Bulgars (hence the name!), and Ottomans; and heavily influenced by the political maneuvering of the Balkans, the rise of Communism, and other political oppressors. Bulgaria has also suffered under religious conflicts between the Roman Catholic Church and the Eastern Orthodox Church. While many missionaries have served in Bulgaria throughout its history, it is still a country in great need of the light of Christ.

Mission to the World (MTW) Bulgaria
MTW’s team historically was in place to help train church leaders. As the team interacted with Bulgarians, God began to open our eyes to the needs of the Bulgarian people. Our team prays for God to help us see areas of brokenness and opportunity. As a result of these prayers, our team has worked toward reaching out to the broken with ministries like caring for the trafficked and prostituted, a ministry to people with disabilities and their families, and those with medical needs. We are also working in areas of opportunity, such as in the university, with English language learners, business entrepreneurs, and families with young children. Our team continues to help develop and build churches, but we are also concerned for the communities in which we live and are eagerly seeking to see the gospel create new life among all of those we interact with in our daily life. You can read more about our team at www.mtwbg.com.
