Easter is one of my favorite holidays. I love all of the services during Holy Week, the sense of community and fellowship in our celebration of the Gospel, and, in my family, having friends join us for lunch after church.
This year was quite different for me. My church had all of the services: Palm Sunday, Maundy Thursday, & Good Friday, but I was not able to attend these services. I did watch 1st ARP's Maundy Thursday service online and found great encouragement in "being" with my church in the US. I'll be honest, though, I was incredibly homesick on Easter. I realized it was the first year I was not with my family and was surprised at how hard that was.
I am so thankful for my team! My roommate and I hosted our American friends for lunch on Easter, and it was a great comfort to me. Also, the songs we sang at church were the same as the ones we would have sung in the US, so I was able to celebrate, although in a different language! :)
The big thing here is dying Easter Eggs. We dyed eggs at our ESL Easter Party, and at our Community of Faith celebration and ate hard boiled eggs for at least 2 weeks after Easter!
