"Bulgarian's don't believe that love could last forever. Most people think it is only for now. Maybe about three years, and then you have to look for another love. But I think forever love could exist." My Bulgarian teacher explained that this is obvious because of how many people don't get married. There is always this stress to find a new love, someone younger, prettier, better employed, etc. Most of my friends, even those who are dating someone, have a feeling that they still have to watch for someone better.
"I think most Americans believe that there could be a forever love. But now with websites and apps where it's easy to meet people, maybe our culture will start believing differently. In our history, many people know what the Bible said about forever love, because that's the kind of love God has for us. But maybe as our culture forgets the Bible, we won't believe that such a love could exist."
We were so deep into our conversation, that the next student rang the bell before we realized that our time was up! As I walked out of my teacher's home, she said, "Lizi, this is a very interesting topic. Please write me an essay about it. You have some interesting things to say. Take your time on your essay, because it's an important topic."
