We started preparing our cooking space and one of the participants asked me what we were making.
"Spaghetti?! Oh, that's my favorite!"
While this class was meant to be an English Cooking class, I realized that my inclination was to speak in Bulgarian, since I'd just finished a 3 hour lesson! So I gave the cooking instruction in English, but just chatted with the participants in Bulgarian. What an exciting time to see how my language skills have grown!
While we cooked, we chatted and were silly. One of the participants enacted a small skit between heads of garlic--one speaking English and the other Bulgarian. We also talked about dogs--some of us preferred bigger dogs and some small dogs. It was a great blessing to be with these participants and see how joyful they are, in spite of the harm that has been done to them.
