Last night I went over to pick up my keys. The whole family was there for the final paperwork. They remembered that I was looking for a Bulgarian roommate and asked how that was going. God has provided a Bulgarian roommate, and she and a friend were coming after work, about an hour after I arrived. The family stayed to meet here. So for about 30 minutes we chatted and watched the Bulgarian men's volleyball game against Slovenia. It felt like I had kind of been adopted by this family! We spent a lot of time laughing together and they even offered to help me move in! When my roommate arrived, it was a party. We were all sharing stories, chatting about the neighborhood and talking about our receipt trip to the beach (we were all on the beach within an hour of each other!). It was a good Bulgarian lesson, that's for sure!
One of my friends from my team texted me as she was on her way over. Because of a meeting, I won't be able to be at my new flat when the movers arrive and she is going to unlock and be there when they deliver my things and she was coming to get the keys. I told her it felt like a party and when she called to clarify directions, our group was out on a balcony. I saw her come into view and told her where to look to find me waving. She told that she looked up and saw a balcony full of people smiling and waving!
I'm so thankful for a new-to-me, cozy apartment (stay tuned for pictures!), a sweet new roommate, and landlords who are so kind and fun! They have family on some of the other floors of the building, so I'm hoping to develop a friendship with their family over the coming years!
