As our location is a little tricky to get to (there is a lot of construction and our building is not marked well), one of our teammates sits in front of our building with a sign "Welcome to English Coffee & Conversation." He's been able to invite people to join, not only for our conversation time, but also to our weekly English clubs. It has been a wonderful way to let our neighborhood know about events that we have at the center!
One of my favorite aspects of our ESL work is our monthly conversation class. We started this in January and have really enjoyed using our center, playing games and taking group photos every month. Not only do we have fun playing games, but most of the games are geared toward learning more about each other and it has been wonderful to get to know more of our students in a low-pressure environment where we can enjoy delicious homemade snacks. I lead one of the more advanced groups, so often our conversations are fast paced and interesting. The people who are usually in my group enjoy discussing and debating, which makes for some entertaining moments! It's also been great to see people from our Community of Faith come and start making friendships with our friends from English clubs.
