When I was a kid, we had a tape of Bible songs for children. I remember one of the songs has the lyrics, "I've got a home in glory land that outshines the sun." I think moving so often has given me a greater understanding of the fact that this world is not my home, but I'm on a journey that will continue until my heavenly home is realized. The promise Jesus made his disciples about going to prepare a home in heaven is the promise that makes moving an adventure instead of a hardship to me. This song is a reminder to me that as I travel with the family of God, the goal is not just a nice mansion in heaven, where everything is perfect; our goal is to live with God and rejoice in His presence. That is where our journey ends. I love how Will Reagan & The United Pursuit Band captures this idea.
Will Reagan & The United Pursuit Band "Pilgrim Days"
Lyrics
Brothers, sisters
Join this song
As we journey home
Hold my hand and walk with me
Till my pilgrim days are done
And there I'll find this jubilee
Until my chains you'll see undone
I walk towards eternity
With hands held high
Unashamed I will enter in
With love by my side
Hold my hand and walk with me
Till my pilgrim days are done
And there I'll find this jubilee
Until my chains you'll see undone
I walk this path You lead
You keep moving me on
I know You're with me
Lord in Zion
To Him who sits on the throne
To Him who reigns forever
To Him who sits on the throne
To Him who reigns on high
Be blessing and honor
And glory and power
