God is knowable and He created us to know and love Him. God created humanity for His glory. Our representatives before God chose to believe a lie—that God was not good and that He was holding out on us. When they rejected God, it led to our separation from Him as well. In fact, there is no person anywhere who can repair that broken relationship, and it has led to the death of every man, woman and child in all of history and for all the days to come. Because God created us, we are His to do with as he chooses. God is fully just, and because we have rejected Him, we all do things that separate us from him. In essence, we are traitors to our true King. Because God is perfectly just, we are all under the curse of death due to our treason. This is bad news. Even if you don't believe this, we could agree that it sounds like bad news.
God created us for a relationship with Him. We rejected His authority and have tried to usurp His position from our very first breath. Before our Creator, we are guilty of treason and our only future is a death penalty.
But God, who is the Creator, chose a costly solution to this problem. Even from the first act of rebellion from our first representatives before Him, God chose to rescue us from our own brokenness by becoming our new representative. Everything we do that goes against God is deserving of the death penalty. Because God is fully just, this penalty must be paid in full in order for us to be made right with Him, to have the relationship with Him that He created us to have. So He sent His only Son, Jesus Christ, to become a new representative in order to bring us life. Jesus lived a sinless life--He was human, but NEVER opposed God. More than that, EVERYTHING He did pleased God because He was God. The very people He came to save rejected Jesus. They put Him to death, unknowingly finishing God's plan—Jesus, when He died, took all of our rebellion and rejection of God, everything we did against God.
The death penalty for sin is paid for all who turn to Jesus. The Bible teaches us that we are restored to a perfect relationship with God by believing that Jesus died in our place. God sees all of our sins as already being dealt with. More than that, because Jesus only ever pleased God, when we believe in Him, God sees us through Jesus' work and is pleased with us.
Jesus did not stay dead. The Bible says, “ But God raised him from the dead, freeing him from the agony of death, because it was impossible for death to keep its hold on him” (Acts 2:24). This is the Gospel of Jesus Christ. All who believe in Him are now dead to their rebellious ways and able to life in perfect unity with our Creator God. In His great plan, we are given life, just as Jesus was raised to life; our new life is eternal.
God created us for a relationship with Him. Through Jesus Christ, we are saved from being separated from Him for eternity and are given new life. Before our Creator, we are restored to live how we were created to live. God's promise to all who believe is eternal life with Him because He created us to know and love Him. Will you believe and live?
